Which is better trading or invesing? well, it depends on many factors. but my personal vew trading is better to generate income but not wealth.
investing is for wealth creation which is passive and trading for income which is active. intraday tradig more stressful than swing & positional trading.
Postitional trading much like investing timehorizon 6 months to years.
I Started as a Investor in 2021 post covig bull run phase, later 2022 Bear kind of market due to russia ukraine war, portpolio lost 20%, did nothing. after that 2023 bull run happened and just draw down,
daily watching Portpolio 0.30% to -2% or 1%. invested 9 lakhs 2000, 50000, some days 10000 up or down.
got a idea to book.
When I bought a infosys 1800per share 2021 covid peak which is went 1200 and 1400 average in 600days. slight gain in 2023 for upto 15% profit not booked, now its trading at -1%.
HDFC Bank 1350 went upto 15% gain suddel fall 10% and remaing now trading +1% in 700+days.
SBI card bought at 850 invested 30k once remaining averaged 1% down total invested 60K Now trading at -17%.
HUL -9%, Relaxo -9%.
Sold ealry Profit making stocks .
Price follows business earnigs.. if there is a slight drop earnings the fall woulbe be 3x.. like..
Investment hozirzon should be at least 3-5 years average
Trading experience
Tried to catch the price.. used moving averages, RSI 14, Bollinger band to spot the trends. but unbale to stick with the strategy.
Tried mometum trading. just bouth all time high stocks with fundamnetally strong, but they are already at peak level, bought 2 shares exited with -5% loss in each trade time horizone 1 week+.
Fedup with value investing consolidation mostly in years. ex: dmart bought 600 days after q1 result went to up to 20+ within 5 days down to 0+ now again 9% gain.
sold some sahres of dmart at peak level for value booking. again entered with some stocks as momentum trading.
realized to focus on business earnings rather than stock price.
Later realized to future demand of bsuinesses such as EV growth etc.. just like vijyakedia, titan rakeshjhunwala, Buffet munger, these people are long term investors, stay invested as long as their goal is fullfilled.
vijay kedia exits when his view & managment view changes, ex: a tea powder company making good profits but entering into milk business.
an autho industry shifting to ev but you are company not shifting towards.
Buffet: as long as beard exits gillete exists. moats. But as Trader we are not slow turtes. we move fast as price move.
Someone tried options seller, buyer and settled in trading in stocks becuase that suits his personality.
finally try and find which suits for you.
